Okay, let’s be real: Americans don’t always have the best reputation when it comes to being “easy” travelers. We can be loud, we sometimes use too much ketchup (especially if the restaurant lets us use the whole bottle), and we aren’t exactly number one in the rankings when it comes to the polyglot life. Because of this bad ‘Ugly American’ rep, a lot of folks from the States try extra hard to be agreeable when traveling abroad.
Courtney from 90 Day Fiancé is not one of these people.
In a recent video shared to the official show Instagram page, Courtney behaves super rudely in a Spanish restaurant. Over the course of dinner, she basically exhibits every negative stereotype about Americans. And fans are furious.
Charlotte And The Chicken Nuggets
When Antonio took Courtney out for a nice dinner in Spain, he never expected her to curse out the menu in front of the waiter. And yet that is exactly what the Floridian twenty-something did.
In a video clip shared to 90 Day Fiancé’s social media pages, Courtney flips through the menu items one-by-one, complaining. At one point, she attacks Spanish culinary culture, claiming that the way that the Spaniards talk about cuts of meat makes her feel too guilty to eat anything. Antonio is so exasperated that he tells producers, “Courtney doesn’t know how to behave.”
The footage sheds light on some of the unacceptable behavior that the Floridian reality star exhibited throughout her trip to Spain. Even though she knew that she was visiting another country, Courtney seemed confused as to how Antonio’s culture was different from her own.
When interviewed by show host Shaun about the episode, Courtney continued to complain. Apparently, she just wanted some chicken nuggets.
Fans Come For Charlotte
The American woman’s behavior was so appalling that viewers of the show attacked her attitude in droves. Several social media users suggested that Courtney try staying in the U.S. for a change. “Stop traveling abroad,” commented one horrified fan, “you’re giving us (Americans) a bad name.” Another fan agreed, “Wherever her hometown is, she needs to stay there with her chicken nuggets.”
While these Insta users wanted to ban Courtney from travel, others rushed to point out that not all folks from the States are like her. “We do not all behave that way,” wrote a concerned viewer. “Such a bad representative of Americans,” wrote another.
