Heather Rae Young And Tarek El Moussa's Relationship
Initially, Heather Rae Young and Tarek El Moussa's first contact was through Instagram, as the Flip or Flop star slid into Heather's DMs. On the Not Skinny Not Fat podcast Heather said "He had asked me out, and I said no at the time, and he respected that. I was in a past relationship," referring to her ex, professional ice hockey player Nick Ebert.
However, their paths crossed again on July 4, 2019, as both of them celebrated on the coast of Newport Beach, California. Since then, their relationship quickly evolved and by the end of 2021, the two already tied the knot at a ceremony that was quite a bit over budget.
Those who have been keeping up with Tarek El Moussa already know that together with his ex-wife, Christina Haack he has two children — Taylor and Brayden. Tarek and Christina have been married from 2009 until 2018, but even today they seem to have a great relationship as co-parents.
According to a source for US Weekly, Christina is happy for the couple who recently announced Heather's pregnancy. "She knew about the pregnancy and is letting them have their moment," the source said. "Christina is happy for them. Tarek and Heather are elated and couldn’t be happier."
Does Heather Rae Young Like Being A Stepmother?
Tarek's children from his first marriage were a big part of the couple's wedding in October 2021. Here's what Heather wrote on Instagram about being a stepmother to them.
"Tarek treated me like a wife from the beginning and he was so supportive of me being a stepmom to the kids right away, but there’s something extra special about officially being the El Moussa family. These kids are truly our everything, so we decided to say our vows first to the kids and second to each other. This is just a tiny portion of what I said to the kids, but I truly meant every word: When your daddy and I decided to be fully committed, I was 100 percent committing myself to you too. I am beyond honored to be your bonus mommy. Thank you for allowing me to love your daddy with all my heart. I love you both more than you will ever know."
Heather also seems to have a good relationship with Tarek's ex, Christina Haack as the two also co-parent in a way. "They’re the most important thing in the world to all of us," the Selling Sunset star told Us Weekly. "So, as long as the kids are happy, we’re all happy. … They respect me as their bonus mom. They love me. I love them so much."
However, Heather did admit that joining the family wasn't as easy as some may think. "They already had a routine. I came in after the fact. So, just kind of fitting my way into their lives, being too strict or just kind of setting those boundaries and rules and not overstepping boundaries or rules [was hard]," Heather said.
In an Instagram post, Heather revealed that it was in fact Tarek's children Taylor and Brayden that ended up changing her mind about having kids of her own.
"Ever since I started sharing my fertility journey with you guys, Probably one of the #1 questions I get asked is ‘what made you change your mind about having your own kids?'" the realtor wrote. "Well… my love for Taylor and Brayden is almost indescribable, it helped me realize that I am capable of being an incredible mom and that I can really do this! Raising humans is hard, I have so much respect for the men and women who raise such amazing little ones, I just love being a bonus mom and I couldn’t imagine my life not having and creating something with my husband!"
According to US Weekly, Tarek's children are thrilled that Heather is pregnant. "They’ve been wanting a little brother — well, another little brother," the Selling Sunset star shared with E! News "They already have one [2-year-old Hudson, whom the kids’ mom shares with ex-husband] but they’ve been wanting another one. So, they’re excited."
